Student hanged himself after pub crawl event

University of Bath student Gethin Bevan, from Ammanford, was found hanging from a tree behind Club XL in Bath in October last year after attending a night held by promoters Carnage UK.
The event, an organised pub crawl, sees undergraduates given a souvenir T-shirt and exclusive entry to a number of city-centre night-spots.
Thousands of students take part across the country, and many have been cancelled after police and council objections.
Post-mortem tests revealed the 20-year-old biology student, described by friends and family as "always smiling" and "brilliant", was more than twice the legal alcohol limit.
Recording an open verdict, Avon coroner Terence Moore said there was no evidence to suggest Mr Bevan wanted to take his own life.
Gethin, of Margaret Street, was the son of retired policeman Cerith and Jackie, and had a sister Sian.
He played rugby for two of the university's sides as well as American football.
His mother, Jacqueline, said shortly after his death: "Gethin was always smiling and happy. Friends have said he touched their lives in the short time he knew them."
His sister Sian also spoke at the time and said: "He was doing well in university and loved Bath.
"He had just started back in university, so he didn't have the pressure and money wasn't a problem for him."
