AM calls for park home Bill
ASSEMBLY Members have been asked to support action to protect people who live in park homes from financial abuse by rogue site owners.
The issue was debated in the Senedd following a proposal by AM Peter Black to introduce a Park Home Private Members' Bill to provide better protection to those who live on a residential park home (mobile home) site.
It follows problems reported by some residents of unscrupulous site operators blocking the sale of homes, while others have allegedly faced harassment and intimidation.
Maria Battle, senior director at watchdog organisation Consumer Focus Wales, said: "We hope all AMs will be able to support the principle of the Bill and put Wales at the forefront of good practice in the UK in combating these issues and protecting older people from financial abuse.
"We know that difficulties are caused because park home residents own their own home, while a site operator owns the land."
