A big conversation planned on the Welsh language, First Minister Carwyn Jones reveals
FIRST Minister Carwyn Jones has revealed plans for a discussion on the future of the Welsh language.
The First Minister met Cymdeithas yr Iaith (the Welsh Language Society) in Cardiff Bay to discuss challenges facing the language across Wales.
After the meeting, Mr Jones said: "There are serious challenges facing the Welsh language.
"The Welsh Government is proud of what we have delivered for the language by protecting its status through the legislation we now have in place. But we also recognise, and the recent census results demonstrate, that big challenges remain.

“Some planning controls need introduction to curb the sale of homes to non Welsh speakers in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, North Powys and Gwynedd. Without these the language will continue to decline.”
