A LLANELLI man has been arrested after a suspected stabbing in the town centre.

Police confirmed an arrest had been made following an incident in Station Road, which saw a man in his 20s taken to hospital.

A police spokeswoman said: “A 47-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.”

She said the incident had taken place at the top of Station Road near the Theatr Elli building — not outside the new Odeon cinema as rumours in the town had suggested.

An ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to an incident in Station Road at 2.49pm.

“A male in his 20s was taken to hospital with multiple injuries,” she added.

Kim Mordue, who owns Kims Tattoo Station in Station Road, said: “The police told us to come inside. We saw ambulances and armed police. We were not allowed to go out.”

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said officers had attended the scene at 2.45pm on Thursday and investigations were under way.

The condition of the injured man was not immediately known last night.
