CHAMPAGNE toasts were enjoyed all round on Thursday as the Swansea Community Boat Trust invited supporters and visitors to step aboard the newly-arrived Black Prince boat.

After travelling from Leeds, the community boat is now lodged alongside the National Waterfront Museum, brought to the Marina after Ceri Davies, of Swansea Watersports, sailed it there.

The arrival was thanks to funding from Welsh Government Invest Wales, with the boat set to become an asset to Swansea Bay. A Swansea community boat trust spokesperson said: "The arrival of the Swansea Community Boat is a proud moment for trust volunteers and for those who sponsored the project in other ways."

The trust is now applying for grants to employ staff to operate the community boat, which becomes operational later this year for children, elderly, disabled and the wider community.

The trust said: "Any level of support is welcome."
