YDraigGoch, Richard Gloucester, and Dragonhearted Monarch
In tracing some of the very ancient history of YDraigGoch, Wales beloved red dragon, some Welsh may be surprised that red dragon appears first in Northern city of Glevum, a Roman fortress city carried on the banners of Roman soldiers in Britain about 400 AD. The red dragon was both a symbol of Mars and Minerva. The ancient chieftain Vortigern, was very much the first monarch to actually carry the red dragon as his own standard for British kings. The red dragon was said to be causing havoc locally where then a young man, ( reputed to be Merlin), then sealed the dragon away since its screams would cause miscarriages, kill livestock, and similar disasters for the local people. Draig, whom was sealed away in a castle, then repeats previous behaviour to Uther Pendragon, Arthur's father. Draig Goch and the white dragon then arise to fight once they are unsealed as Merlin warns of the wars between Saxons and Brits.Notably, King Arthur although a Christian King, kept a pagan wizard as his main advisor. Pagan high priests were referred to as "great white boars" which were the symbol of Richard III. Draig is also associated with the ancient king Calawaladr who fought against the Danes about 680 AD and used the red dragon as his standard. Draig was said to be the incarnation of the Welsh god, Dewi, a old red serpent. Of course Henry Tudor used Draig on his arms to unify his Welsh troops he also had French troops in his army when fighting Richard III at Bosworth.
However, with much wry wit and amusing tones, RichardIII1955 on Youtube has poked fun both at RichardIII and Henry VII. At times, Henry seems to merely be to glad to grasp from the French, to the Welsh, and Gloucester's own niece to claim the throne.RichardIII1955 also has historical and humorous videos that seem to mark the twists and turns of both these monarchs. A gentle, princely presence I believe Welsh residents will have a tongue in cheek smile at his panoramic collection on his channel. I wrote some sonnets related to Bosworth and Richard III whom were dedicated to this lovable lord, please visit https://www.youtube.com/user/TheGothikitty. Oh and Draig Goch at Glevum, is now present day Gloucester. Much love to the dragon hearted RichardIII1955.
