Work on valley vision begins
WORK transforming a forgotten Swansea beauty spot has begun.
The Penllergare Trust has announced that the first stage of its dream of bringing the Penllergare Valley, created by 19th- century landscape designer and horticulturist John Dillwyn Llewelyn, back into life, is under way.
A spokesman for the Trust said: "Planning consent has now been secured for the M4 underbridge/walkway, as well as the Upper Lake restoration works with a new micro hydro electric scheme adjacent to the waterfall.
"Following competitive tendering a contract has been offered for the construction of the new car park and visitor kiosk with associated works.
"The site has been cleared by trust staff and volunteers, and although it is sad to see trees being felled and removed, the car park site already looks a fitting place for the main visitor entrance."
The spokesman added that the work was set to be completed by June 2013.
