Work to improve "dangerous" Pont Abraham roundabout on M4
FURTHER work will begin at a "dangerous" Carmarthenshire roundabout next week, with hopes it will fix accident problems blighting the area.
Work is expected to begin on Monday at the Pont Abraham roundabout, at the end of the M4, with restrictions extending onto the motorway and the A48 towards Cross Hands.
Speed restrictions of 50, 40 and 10 miles per hour will be put in place and are expected to remain until March 28, though an order will remain valid for 18 months.
A notice in yesterday's Post said: "Although the order is only expected to operate during the dates specified above, it will remain valid for a period of 18 months as a contingency should the work need to be rescheduled or consequential work is required due to unforeseen circumstances."

Locals have welcomed the news, but say they hope the work is done quickly.
"I would think that in 18 months they could build a whole new motorway," said Llannon county councillor Emlyn Dole, whose ward the roundabout falls in.
"That timescale is ridiculous, even though I know it's only to cover themselves.
"That roundabout is the most dangerous in Wales.
"The motorway stops at that roundabout, while normally, you would have something safer marking the end of it.
"I hope the work, which is overdue, will fix the problems there.
"I would hope it won't take 18 months, especially as from Easter onwards we're going to be having visitors to the county and beyond taking that route.
"Hopefully, it will be done quickly and thoroughly to fix whatever is causing these accidents, both small and serious."
Work to close junctions on the A48 between Pont Abraham and Cross Hands was completed last June, despite opposition from locals who now have to add miles onto their journey.
Maintenance work was carried out at the roundabout in June.
