Woman seriously injured after being struck by car in Maesteg

A woman pedestrian has been seriously injured after a hit-and-run in Maesteg.

The woman and a man were hit on Hermon Road, Caerau, Maesteg, at about 2:20am yesterday by a dark coloured Rover car which failed to stop.

The woman suffered serious head injuries and is critically ill at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

The man suffered back injuries and was released after treatment. Police say the driver involved has been traced.
