Woman rescued from Swansea Marina
A WOMAN was rescued from the freezing waters of Swansea Marina last night.
She had entered the water at the lock by the Pump House pub at around 11.20pm.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent a crew from Sketty and swift water rescue teams from Swansea Central and Carmarthen to the scene.
A fire service spokesman said fire fighters entered the water and got the woman out.

“People are now so mollycoddled by elf n safety they have no idea of danger, we're letting our children down by this &the courts pander to their ignorance or excuses about being drunk, itself an offence.
I sometimes see people climbing over fences along road's danger spots & as mentioned above I had a friend killed swerving to miss someone running into the road.
NO to fences YES to responsibility”

more and more we are living in a nanny state. 'Elf and safety' has gone mad. People now have a message - you don't need to be responsible for themselves, they can leave everything to someone else and if they walk in front of a car, fall over an object or fall into freezing icy water it's someone elses fault, someone else cleans up after them and someone else has to put things right. I take my grandchildren out, not just to the marina, and before leaving the home we have a discussion on what type of behaviour is expected of them. They listen and obey because of their love and respect for others and themselves. If children between the ages of 4 years and 12 years can appreciate dangers then so should adults.”

“I would like to see where your risk assessment would indicate that a tidal beach would pose the same risk rating as a marina!!”

“Of course we do not want to see high fences, walls etc etc around areas of water (marina included) - these idiots pay their money and take their choice. I would expect these goons to pay for their rescue, hospital services and contribute to a life saving charity. If they do not agree, then they should stay away from pubs bordering water areas.”

Not only that.
They could stagger into a road, cause someone to swerve out of the way and crash with fatal consequences.”

Do you want high fences running along the sides of every road?
Roads are far more dangerous than marinas.
Do you want a high fence around every swimming pool, lake and pond?
What about floods? Do you want high fences around waterlogged areas?
What about bogs?”

“Most, if not all, of those who have fallen into the marina have been pie-eyed through drink or drugs. If they hadn't fallen in the marina or the river, they may well have fallen into the road, up or down stairs, or been involved in some other self inflicted incident. Our hospitals are full to overflowing with similar idiots every weekend.
Putting a 10 foot high fence around the marina might stop them getting wet, but it's no certainty they fools won't end up injured doing something equally as stupid, because they can't control their alcohol intake.”
