Woman killed after car hits tree near Merthyr Tydfil

A 28-year-old woman has died after a car hit a tree in a South Wales village this morning.

The woman was a passenger in the Honda Civic which struck the tree in Pant, Merthyr Tydfil at about 1.30am.

The male driver, 36, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers asked for any witnesses who may have seen the car or a man on the road at that time.
