POLICE were called to an argument between two women late at night at a house in Carmarthen.

Magistrates heard that when the police arrived at 28 Priory Street, they found the pair shouting at each other.

One of them, 27-year-old Mair Eleri Morris, also of Priory Street, was asked to leave but carried on shouting in the street.

She was arrested and pleaded guilty to using threatening or insulting behaviour in public when before magistrates on Thursday.

Defence solicitor Kate Williams said Morris had asked to go to prison last year and since then had made good progress with an addiction to Class A drugs.

Ms Williams said: "She said she was assaulted and she's the one who ends up in a police cell. However, she accepts her behaviour was unacceptable for the residents living there.

"She's come a long way since she was in custody last year.

"She's no longer relying on Class A drugs which is a major step forward for her."

Morris was fined £75 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.
