Wind turbine plan agreed
PLANS for an 80 foot high wind turbine in Carmarthen were approved by Carmarthenshire Council last Thursday despite an objector's concerns.
The application, by Tudor Davies, of Penlanffos Farm, Penlanffos Road is to erect a near 25-metre high wind turbine capable of producing 11 kilowatts of electricity.
The turbine is being installed to supply cheap electricity to run the farm and potentially feed electricity into the national grid.
It is predicted that 37 megawatts of electricity will be produced annually.
One letter of objection had been received by county planners, citing the turbine's location, concerns about noise impact and it being out of character for the area.
It was also felt approval would set a precedent for any further larger developments.
A report for planners stated: "Each application is assessed on its own merits.
"There are no other turbines in close proximity to the site and therefore no concerns in terms of cumulative impact of the proposal."
