Welsh people are being urged to quit smoking in a 28 day challenge
PEOPLE in Wales are being urged to stub out their smoking habit during October.
For the first time the Welsh Government has launched Stoptober in a drive to get people to quit lighting up for 28 days this autumn.
The aim of the campaign is to get as many smokers involved on October 1.
Smoking is the greatest preventable cause of illness, disability and premature death Wales-wide and accounts for more than 5,600 deaths every year.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Ruth Hussey said people are five times more likely to quit if they give up for 28 days.
