MARK Wallace will stay as Glamorgan captain next season.

And the wicketkeeper, who has been awarded a benefit in 2013, wants to see the Welsh county challenging for honours once again.

The captaincy will again be split next term with Australian Test batsman Marcus North leading Glamorgan in one-day matches.

North takes over that role from all-rounder Jim Allenby.

Wallace said: "I felt the split captaincy worked well last year both for myself and for the team and as such I look forward to leading the side in the County Championship while giving my full-support and backing to Marcus  for one-day cricket.

"Not long ago we were challenging for promotion in the Championship so we want to get back there and, along with Marcus, I want to bring success back to Glamorgan."
