Walk on Wales fundraiser wins recognition from Prime Minister David Cameron
ORGANISERS of a major Welsh fundraiser were in a reception at No.10 Downing Street last night to mark their achievements.
Jan Koops and Dai Graham, who dreamt up the idea for Walk on Wales, which has been taking place along the 870 mile Wales Coast Path, were speaking to Prime Minister David Cameron about their achievements.
The last leg of the fundraiser is taking place this week and ends in Cardiff Bay on Sunday after setting off on August 25.
Welsh Guards veteran Mr Koops said he was honoured at the invitation.
The event was aimed at bringing in £1 million for the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal and Combat Stress.
He said: "I am pleasantly heartened that the message and the efforts of the wider community have been recognised.
"We are thrilled and are looking forward to the next stage of the journey."
He added that there was still the opportunity of joining the walk, which sets off from Porthcawl today and will be led by female walkers.
