Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips suspended indefinitely by Bayonne
WALES scrum-half Mike Phillips has been suspended indefinitely by Bayonne.
The French outfit have banned Phillips until further notice, as well as fining him, for what they describe as unacceptable off-field behaviour.

Just 15 months ago the former Osprey was suspended by Wales after a late-night incident in the centre of Cardiff.
Bayonne wing Cedric Heymans has also been suspended for comments he made about fans.

In a statement, Bayonne said: “The off-field behaviour of Mike Phillips is unacceptable and he has been fined.
“He has also been suspended until further notice.
“The club will no longer allow misconduct on the part of players and they may be exposed to greater penalties.
“We have enough quality young players at the club.
“Just because some are bigger names, it does not mean they are protected and above the group.”

“Despite the recent success of the national team, there is a lack of realisation from Welsh (actually, British) rugby players that they are now in a professional sport. This is not the 1990's and the days of partying are over, our game has come so far in the last 15 years to eradicate the "boys in the valley" attitude but there is still more progress to make.”
