Former Wales rugby captain Matthew Rees's cancer treatment to start next week
FORMER Wales captain Matthew Rees is to have "extensive treatment" for testicular cancer, it has been confirmed.
The 32-year-old will begin treatment at the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff next week.
Rees, who made his Wales debut in 2005 and went on to win 58 caps as well as playing for the Lions, announced two weeks ago that he had been diagnosed with the disease.
A spokesman for his club, Cardiff Blues, confirmed his treatment would start.
He said: "Blues can now confirm that Rees will commence further treatment at Velindre Hospital, Cardiff, from next week as he targets a return to playing in the future."
