WALES have plummeted 16 places down to 82nd in the latest Fifa world rankings.

Chris Coleman's men have lost six of their last seven matches, a sequence of results that has seen them fall from 37th spot in August to their current position.

Wales have oscillated wildly in recent years, having plunged to a new low of 117th place in August last year before bouncing back up to 37th within 12 months.

Countries ranked higher than Wales now include Guatemala and Benin.

Scotland, who Wales beat 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier in October, have dropped two places to 72nd.

England are still in sixth spot, the Republic of Ireland have dropped six positions to 42nd and Northern Ireland are 96th.

One of the biggest surprises is Brazil's plight.

The five-time world champions have fallen to an all-time low of 18th, below the likes of Ecuador, Switzerland and Greece.

Current World Cup holders Spain are still top of the rankings, with Germany second and Argentina third.
