Former Wales captain Matthew Rees to undergo testicular surgery
FORMER Wales and Scarlets skipper Matthew Rees is to undergo testicular surgery.
A statement issued today by Rees’s side Cardiff Blues said that the 32-year-old hooker is to have an enforced spell away from rugby.
“Cardiff Blues would like to take this opportunity to wish Matthew a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in action in the future,” it said.
British Lion Rees, capped 57 times for Wales, joined the Blues from the Scarlets in the summer after nine seasons in Llanelli.
The Scarlets have also sent their well wishes to Rees.
Scarlets assistant coach Mark Jones said: “He is a good friend of mine and everyone here wishes Matthew and his family all the best.
“I am sure he will approach it as he approaches his rugby and he will smash it and come out the other side fighting fit.”
