WALES Air Ambulance is appealing to people in Swansea to do their bit for the life-saving charity.

The service is asking people to volunteer some of their spare time — no matter how much or how little — to help support them.

Allan Devonald, commercial manager for Wales Air Ambulance, said: "Wales Air Ambulance provides a life-saving emergency service to the people of Wales.

"The charity is essential to people living in rural areas of the country that live far away from hospitals and emergency services.

"We rely on public donations to keep the helicopters in the air — this includes not only the material donations that we sell in our shops but people's valuable time to help with the running of the charity."

As well as appealing for people to take part in their fundraising activities, they are also on the lookout for volunteers to help out in their new Mumbles shop, which will be opened on March 1.

Based at 11 Newton Road, the shop's opening hours will be 9.30am to 4.30pm.

March 1 will be the 12th anniversary since the launch of the service from Swansea Airport in 2001.

Since then the charity has flown more than 17,000 missions and introduced two new aircraft at Caernarfon and Welshpool Airports.
