JONATHAN Thomas will miss Wales's game with New Zealand after being banned for two weeks.

A WRU disciplinary panel last night ruled that the Ospreys lock had struck a Blues forward during his side's 20-12 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium last Saturday.

Thomas's ban runs until November 12, meaning he will be free to play for Wales against Samoa the following evening.

A WRU statement read: "The panel, chaired by independent solicitor Roger Morris, upheld the citing and deemed the offence to be on the low end of the scale and suspended the player for two weeks from the time of the hearing."

It is the latest setback for Thomas, who missed the majority of last season with shoulder, neck and groin injuries.

Andy Powell took over in the Wales back row, with Thomas unable to press his claims for a place on the Lions tour of South Africa in the summer.
