Llanelli Choral Society will perform Mendelssohn’s Elijah at Llanelli’s Tabernacle Chapel
Under the direction of conductor John Hywel Williams, the 90-voice Llanelli Choral Society and Celtic Orchestral Ensemble will be joined by Gary Griffiths, mezzo soprano John Emanuela Barazia, tenor John Pierce and soprano Adele O'Neill, with pianist Jean Hywel and Huw Tregelles Williams on the organ.
Mr Williams said: "It is such an excitement to perform this masterpiece work of Mendelssohn.
"Its melodrama, easy appeal and stirring choruses have made this great work so popular with choruses, artists and audiences alike."
A busy 15th year for the Llanelli Choral Society will also include joining the Hywel Girls' Choir and Boy Singers at the 2012 Llanelli Proms with the Dunvant Male Choir and the Band and Bugles of The Rifles, performing at Swansea's Brangywn Hall in June, and exciting performances in Oxfordshire.
Since being founded in 1998, the society has gone from strength to strength and now has nearly 90 members.
The performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah will be staged at Llanelli's Tabernacle Chapel at 7.30pm.
