FUN and games for all the family will take place in Clydach once again this week — by popular demand.

The Swansea Valley Hope event saw people from all over the valley head to the village to enjoy entertainment in a specially- erected tent next to Waverly Park.

The event was put on by Ynyscedwyn-based Swansea Valley Bible Church, and as well as games, music, and a bouncy castle, there was storytelling and an afternoon club.

Co-ordinator Barny Harper said: "We have brought the tent to various locations, including Alltwen and Abercrave, and it has proved so successful we are staying in Clydach for another few days."

“It's good to hear that the community is enjoying the events - that's what we love to hear! The family fun day should be a hit again this Saturday!
As far as parking is concerned, we have tried to improve it where we can by parking on the field and the Cricket Club have kindly let us park a few vehicles in their Car Park. We realise that it can be a sensitive issue but we are always more than happy to move cars if needed. Also, the music is generally only heard between 7 and 8:30-9 in the evening and it's not constant during that time. We are trying to be sensitive to those in the area. We did consult with the relevant authorities and also asked that the residents be consulted before coming to the site - no objections were raised at the time. Some of our team also paid a visit to those living in the sheltered accommodation and came away feeling that the response was generally positive. Certainly the last thing we want to do is create bad feeling! Please come and talk to us if you have concerns!”

“It so nice to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves but there are serious traffic problems. Waverley Close is a sheltered accommodation area and residents had mega problems trying to park near their flats and last Saturday the buses had a problem trying to get through. There are many elderly and disabled residents living here and if the emergency services needed to call they would find it very difficult to park. Many of the residents have complained about the loud music and suggested that this and the traffic problems should be looked into before the Hope event is allowed on this site again.”

“What a fantastic event held by a couple of local churches! The family Fun Day was a cracking day out. The kids loved the bouncy castle, wrestle in the huge Sumo suits and there was a fab free barbecue. As well as the Family Fun Day, there was a Kids Club for 5-11 year olds, Coffee & Cakes and plenty of friendly people from the local churches. The evening meetings held every evening (which were amazing!) had great live music, real-life stories and some good news! Thank you to everyone organising the week! The whole family enjoyed! If you are in the Clydach area (and even if you're not!) I can really recomend coming along. Details of all evnets for the week can be found on the website http://tinyurl.com/d85h2ju
