Video footage of the RNLI's new £9.5m lifeboat house in Swansea Bay
EVER wondered what a building site at sea looks like?
Well, take a look at this.
-

Suspended from an inspection gondola from a crane, Mumbles Pier manager Fred Bollom took this video footage of the RNLI’s new £9.5million lifeboat house rising from Swansea Bay.
You can see the pilings that will support the slipway over which the new Tamar class lifeboat will launch in the years to come.

The sound of BAM Nuttall contractors driving piles into the seabed has been reverberating across the bay.
Pier-owning firm Ameco is behind a £2.5 revamp of the pier, including new decking and a bigger boardwalk area at the structure’s shore end, which is due to be completed by the end of 2013.

Suggest you do some research before spouting off about a waste of money. The RNLI is a charity
relying on public support so no cost to taxpayer. The present station is no longer fit for purpose as the newer boats cannot be used there.
Take a trip to Tenby and look at their new station built next door to the old one which is now a private residence, better facilities all round.”

“This is a total waste of nearly £10 million.
Given if there was not already a lifeboat station at Mumbles then would they be building the new station in the same place.”
