Welsh international rugby players star in a video showing a player's perspective of a scrum

Welsh international Adam Jones, accompanied by front-row teammates Paul James and Ken Owens, are the stars of a new short film shot from within the scrum.

The never-before-seen footage features the players' perspectives that fans rarely have the chance to see when watching from the stands, including the extreme pressures placed upon the scrummagers' upper bodies and even their faces.

It also highlights the build up to a match from locker room to pitch, with a focus on the physical intensity and brutality players endure within a scrum.  After the ferocious interlocking commences, players' faces are shown experiencing the strain, pressure, stress, sweat and mud.

Adam Jones, prop of the Welsh rugby team, said: "People rarely get to see what happens at scrum time and this film gives supporters a small insight into the battle we go through.  As well as a tough match taking its toll on your body, it surprisingly affects your face, too. As professional rugby players you have to keep your body in shape and look after it, and there's no harm in doing the same for your face."

The video was created to help encourage men to take better care of their faces and help overcome taboos about 'real men' looking after themselves, as part of a promotional campaign with Dove Men+Care – the official partner to the Welsh Rugby Union.

Lauren Brooking, Brand Manager, Dove Men+Care said: "Men have endured this 'face torture' for years, without realising why or whether they can do anything about it – and these players from the Welsh team really do get the brunt of it.
