Vauxhall drops price of its electric car
VAUXHALL has lowered the price of its Ampera range-extender electric car by £3.500 to give it a starting price of £28,750.
This price includes the government's £5,000 Plug-In Car Grant for vehicles that emit less than 75g/km of carbon dioxide, are battery powered and have a range of more than 60 miles.
The entry-level model is the Ampera Positiv that comes with climate control and a rear-view camera.
There is also the Electron trim that includes a Bose stereo system, costing from £30,495.
Amperas are available through 24 special Vauxhall dealers.
The car is powered by a battery with a 1.4-litre petrol engine that acts as a generator to charge the battery when its charge runs low. The car can travel up to 50 miles on battery power alone and has a range of 310 miles.
