Vacancy follows councillor's ban
MUMBLES Community Council is looking for a new councillor following the disqualification of Simon Arthur.
Mr Arthur, of Summerland Lane, Newton, was jailed for four months earlier this month after assaulting his 87-year-old mother and then brandishing a knife at police.
Notices have been put up in the area advertising the vacancy. There will be an election if 10 constituents request one in writing within 14 working days from August 29. Electors should write to the Returning Officer at the City and County of Swansea.
If no election is requested, the community council will seek to co-opt a new councillor.

There are currently 17 councillors serving the Newton, Oystermouth, Mayals and West Cross wards.
The council aims to support local organisations and improve the look of the village, among other roles. Its work is funded by the precept — a relatively small amount paid by council tax payers.
