VIDEO: Swansea women give their verdict on Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey film
SWANSEA women have given their verdict on the man cast as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of bestseller Fifty Shades of Grey - Jamie Dornan.
We hit the streets of the city armed with pictures of the star, to see what people thought of his casting in the role.
In the book by E.L. James Christian Grey is a brooding, troubled multi-millionaire businessman who takes an English graduate, Anastasia Steele - who will be played by Dakota Johnson in the film - on a sexual journey involving bondage and sado-masochism.
We took two photos out of Dornan, one a head and shoulders, and the second of him in his role as an underwear model.
But not everyone was convinced by the 31-year-old making a good Christian Grey.
For many, the choice of Dornan seemed not to resonate with the character in the book.
Chantal, 28, from Swansea said: “He’s a bit too young, but I like his eyes.”
But Jules, 47, from Llansamlet, said she was looking forward to seeing the film, based on the casting decision.
Dornan’s rise to fame has been slow and steady.
Originally from Belfast, he began acting in his early twenties after dropping out of University in Newcastle.
In London he began training as an actor, eventually earning himself a role in Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film, Marie Antoinette.
More recently he received critical acclaim for his role as Paul Spector in the BBC series The Fall, opposite Gillian Anderson.
