Gorseinon residents rally together
But campaigners say they want to keep what they say is one of the last remaining pieces of green land in their town.
Protestors of all ages held placards and chanted "Save Melin Mynach" while petitions were passed around.

Organiser Helen Davies took to the microphone to address the hundreds of protestors.
She said: "We're still in the consultation period. This is very important that everybody who's got an opinion whether that's a positive or a negative one about setting up travellers sites, needs to make it known. That opinion is important."

“The whole occasion and gathering bore an uncanny resemblance to a Green Party members/conservation protest/environmental and ecological activist's group(s) demo! Hang on! That's exactly what it was bearing in mind the large attendee presence of locals (O.A.P's, children and parents!) whom have previously volunteered their precious free time to litter pick there. That precious free time?...... Precious free time that has been volunteered on many, many, many, occasions and over a period of many, many, many, years!
It was dignified! It was peaceful! It was without trouble or inconvenience! It was held in accordance with police guidelines.”

Can you please remove the multiple posts from myself. They appear due to some technical issue with the comments section.
Many Thanks”

“This post is from Lavengro. For some reason I am unable to post under my original registration?
Calling someone a racist when they make a racist comment isn't playing the race card, it's relating the facts.
But of course it seems that those commenting here would rather hide behind the real reasons for their objections (how cowardly) and so prolong the inevitable. The inevitable being that in line with Welsh Government policy, Swansea Council (as other councils) have to provide for Gypsy and Traveller need including site provision. I'm sorry that you object to democracy in action, but these decisions and policies come from your elected members of one form or another. If you don't like democracy there are plenty of other countries for you to choose from where democracy won't be an issue for you, and where you will be an ethnic minority and maybe take a broader view as a result?
Alternatively you could all just whinge and moan until the next election and then vote for one of the Union Flag waving far right parties who would seem more suited to your real agenda.
Best of luck with that!”

What a load of dribbling nonsense you forgot to mention where "you"live or if you have the have the moral fiber to now visit all your neighbors and canvas them for permission to approach "your" councilors and "your" Mp to make sure the second site is as near to you as possible!!
Channel 4 documentary was nothing to do with any of those who live "normal" life styles! I suggest
"you" watch it and while you are at it show all "your" neighbors so they will be well informed! Or the many other films available on Utube And not one of those people now living in fear took part in "Their films" Racism what a wet weak wibbling comment! What decent person would want to life near another Dale Farm no one in their right mind except you!”

“The people of Gorseinon have turned out in vast numbers and partaken in numerous volunteer litter picks on the Parc Melin Mynach site! You know? Fathers, mothers, and young schoolchildren whom have previously volunteered their free Saturday time because they care for their own local surroundings and care for local ecological/preservation issues!
Times must be really tough for the politically correct loon like Lavengro when volunteer litter pickers and lovers of their community/likewise type(s)/ are branded racist! If these travellers want to be treated like everybody else put them on the social housing list! That's equality for you!
Is litter picking and wanting to preserve the natural environment racist? Is campaigning for it racist? Is being concerned about your community racist? Is asking the right to have the future use of a cemetery preserved racist? Is wider societies condemning of a minority groupings flagrant disregard for society's rules racist? Etc? Etc? Etc? Stop playing the race card! Even proposals for new housing developments on Parc Melin Mynach would get a negative reponce! Why do you think the natural beauty of the Gower is untouched?”

“I was pleased to read the comments following the article, as they give away the real reasons behind the protest which has nothing to do with protecting green space and a lot to do with not very cleverly disguised racism. At least those in receipt of any petition now know beyond doubt its real intent.
Quote:
"WE DON'T WANT ANYMORE TRAVELLERS SITES!!!"
Exactly, that is your real agenda. Hatred of two recognised minority ethnic groups, Gypsies and Travellers. And just in case we miss the point it's all in shouty capitals.
Imagine what such numbers of people could acheive if they all used their passions to acheive something positive rather than strive towards such a negative goal. They are clearly the same sort of people who thirty years ago would have spoken out against having black neighbours. And thankfully history will judge these anti-Gypsy and Traveller posters in the same way that we now judge those ill informed, uneducated persons and positions that people held in the past around other races. What a shame for Swansea and its residents who do not think they can decide who their neighbours are based on race and ethnicity.”

This is some of the cost to "us"taken from the councils site!
http://tinyurl.com/cpjjhml
The cost to us as reported March 2006 £135,000 and the WAG has pledged £1 million a years each year for three years!
Such a pity the citizens of Swansea cant get themselves organized and say "no"! Surely none of us should have to tolerate this nonsense most of us want to raise our standards not lower them!”
