JAMES Todd has been forced to pull out of his fight in Milton Keynes tomorrow night due to injury.

The 22-year-old Swansea welterweight was due to face Gavin Putney at stadium:mk in what would have been his first fight for Goodwin Promotions.

But Todd, who fought for a version of the world title last November, has been ruled out after pulling two muscles in his back while sparring with former EBU and IBO lightweight champion Jason Cook.

It is a major blow for Todd, given that he returned from a spell in America only a few months ago.

And impressing the big wigs at Bedfordshire-based promoters Goodwin was top of his agenda.

But Todd, who has been training in Bonymaen and Llantrisant, will sit out the next fortnight and plan another fight within two months.

"It's really disappointing because I was looking forward to my first fight of 2010 and getting the year off on a winning note," said Todd, who has two wins, two defeats and a draw on his record.

"I felt some pain while sparring with Jason, and after seeing the physio it was recommended that I sit out the next two months.

"But I've felt a little better over the last few days, and maybe I'll be back in the gym within a fortnight.

"It that goes okay then Goodwin will probably get me a fight in the next two months."
