Tyre waste is set to remain at Tata
CHARRED tyre waste left from the Fforestfach fire will remain at Tata Steel in Port Talbot.
Planning conditions agreed by Neath Port Talbot councillors have been adopted for Tata Steel's Morfa waste management site.
The mass of blackened waste had initially been taken to a Tata Steel site following the June 2011 blaze as a temporary measure. The then-Environment Agency Wales required it to be moved to a landfill for permanent hazardous waste.
But the authorities later decided it would be best to apply for permission to keep the waste at Tata, albeit within the hazardous waste area.
