HUW Jenkins has admitted Brian Stock and Jack Cork are on Swansea City's radar as they target up to three new signings.

But the Swansea chairman, who arrived on the club's pre-season tour of Holland yesterday, insists there is no rush to get the business done before the new Championship campaign kicks off on August 7.

Brendan Rodgers is thought to want a central midfielder to fill the void left by Leon Britton, a wide player with pace and a centre-forward.

And Jenkins says Swansea are trying hard to deliver the recruits the new boss wants.

"We are looking for two or three new signings and we are working on things," Jenkins said.

"Brendan's first priority when he came in was to assess the squad we have got and see what we may need to add to give us a good chance next season.

"We are talking through some options with a couple of clubs and seeing if we can get somewhere."

Welsh international Stock, 28, and promising Chelsea youngster Cork are both contenders to play the Britton role.

Stock could be prised out of Doncaster Rovers as he has only a year to run on his contract with the Yorkshire club, while 20-year-old Cork is tipped to leave Stamford Bridge in search of first-team football.

"Brian Stock is a player we talked about before Brendan came to the club, to be honest, but Brendan likes that type," Jenkins added. "He is someone who would suit our system and we have had a couple of tentative conversations with Doncaster, although nothing more than that at this time.

"Jack Cork is another player Brendan has talked about for the defensive midfield role in our system. But we also have Kemy Agustien training with us this week, and he is another who could fill that role.

"We are going through a few possibilities. But as always, when you are talking about good players, their clubs are assessing things themselves and seeing who may or may not be available.

"Some players are late getting back from the World Cup, which means things take longer."

Nevertheless, Swansea say they will not try to force any deals through prior to their opening-day trip to Hull City if it is not possible.

"We are a bit later than we would want to be but, while we're hopeful we can get something done before the season starts, we are not going to panic.

"Ideally, things would happen soon, but we won't worry if we have to wait until the end of the transfer window."

Jenkins says "one or two" players may leave Swansea before the window shuts, but claims funds are in place to recruit whether others depart or not.

"We have always done things when we felt they would give us a better chance and I don't expect things to be any different now," he said.

Winger Tom Butler looks set to miss the start of the season after aggravating a thigh problem in training, while Craig Beattie faces a spell out with a calf injury picked up in Holland. Swansea are waiting for the Scottish striker to undergo a scan.

“Stock would be a good shout but realistically we have no chance of Cork, who is an excellent player as he is on Burnleys radar also, unfortunately we cant compete with that club, bigger financially and bigger club in the grand scheme of things, shame, sotck though, big thumbs up from this jack”

“HJ , let the manager manage. The chairman's job is not the same. Haven't you realised that yet? It seems not.

" but to be honest, that's the type of player he likes " ? That's his job else why appoint him?

Move on HJ and give BR and the fans a chance to move on. Your lack of ambition - "survive in this league" - is quite pathetic and empty - rather like the board's wallets.

Blackpool did it with a far smaller budget than ours. We can move forward
if you have the will to do so.”

“Sound like a ploy to flog a few more season tickets to me.”
