Film bosses commission Twin Town sequel
A SEQUEL to cult hit Twin Town has been commissioned by film bosses.
The 1997 film, set in Swansea, portrayed a gritty underside to the city — and helped launch the careers of screen stars Rhys Ifans and Dougray Scott.

And now one of its original writers, Kevin Allen, has confirmed talks are underway for a follow-up — which will take the economic downturn for its inspiration.
The Swansea-born film-maker told the Post: "There's been talk about a sequel for the past five years, but it never felt quite right. But now it feels right.
"It's not going to be a direct continuation of the first film — it will be Twin Town 12 years on. I don't want to go and make another version of what I made before."

“If some people think that Swansea has deteriorated over the past 12 years then they need to open their eyes. A lot of money has been pored into Swansea, especially in some of the rural areas. Yes drugs and crime has risen but hasn¿t it everywhere? that¿s just the era we are living in. What people need to understand is that it is just a film and a funny one at that. Can't wait for the next Twin Town”

“Any film made in Swansea is great for the area and great for Wales. The prissy people should remember that films made in Los Angeles or Paris dont necessarily depict every day life in those cities, they are fictional films possibly with a little local flavour. The first film was absolutely hilarious and is still discussed in some way or another in my group of friends on a daily basis. Cant wait ..........”

“Hollow Man III (Swansea) - Invisible man and his gang, called "The Hollers", are out to wreck the town. On their trail of destruction, the Hollers meet opposition in many forms including a dangerous tree, a bridge and a cat with a Rubik Cube. But the Hollers have the ultimate weapon - THE OMBUDSMAN. The plot is twisted and viewers would be well advised to wait for the DVD so that they can make use of subtitles, fast-forward and deleted scenes.”

“I lived in Harrow when Twin Town was released, and I have to say that it made Swansea look like a drunken, dirty, hovel. It did nothing for Swansea or her people. Who can forget the sex scene in the caravan?????”

“anon is correct. swansea has changed a lot since the original twin town was made twelve years ago. It has got much worse. It is now more shabby then ever. And drugs and crime are much more prevalent.”

“Swearing, thieving, drug taking anti social youths with the East and West Swansea divide. It was a pretty accurate description at the time. Dont blame the film makers, just look at the city, with its run down city centre, them and us attitude. The first film has cult following since it went out on DVD,if you were ashamed of the first film, tough.”

“swansea needs to make more of its bohemian factor and creative industries so making more films like twin town will help that. think swansea has changed a lot since the original twin town was made twelve years ago.”
