JOSH Turnbull is set to return from injury as the Scarlets refocus on their league play-off ambitions in Glasgow tomorrow (7.05pm).

The Wales international back-rower has recovered from a shoulder problem and is available for the RaboDirect Pro12 clash at Firhill.

Turnbull has made just three appearances since undergoing a shoulder operation in September and with Rob McCusker sidelined for most of the season, Aaron Shingler and Ben Morgan on international duty and Richie Pugh playing for Wales sevens in Las Vegas, the timing of Turnbull's comeback is a welcome one for Nigel Davies and his coaching team.

"It is good to have him back in the selection mix," said skills coach Mark Jones.

"Josh playing at the top of his game is a great player to have in the squad.

"We are fortunate we have a lot of good back-rowers here and we are lucky to have Josh coming back and joining them."

The Scarlets are hoping they will have prop Rhodri Jones released from Warren Gatland's Six Nations squad, although Jones admitted they are unlikely to have any others for the trip north.

With props Phil John (neck strain) and Deacon Manu (back strain) ruled out of the match, resources are stretched in the front row.

Glasgow are currently one position and one point ahead of the fifth-placed Scarlets in the Pro12 standings, with the West Walians keen to bounce back from their LV= Cup defeat to Sale at an icy Edgeley Park last Saturday.

"It is not often you go to Glasgow and it will be warmer," joked Jones.

"It is a tough ask to back it up so quickly and we have taken that into account in our training schedule this week.

Ambitions

"But if we have got aspirations to make the play-offs we need to get something out of this game.

"Glasgow got stuck into us last time they were down here; they are a point ahead of us in the league so it is a big match for our play-off ambitions.

"The good thing for us is our squad players have done particularly well for us this season. They didn't play as well as they could have last week, but I am looking forward to us putting in a good performance tomorrow."

The Warriors are also without a host of internationals, although head coach Sean Lineen is set to welcome back fly-half Ruaridh Jackson who hasn't played since damaging a hamstring in the 16-14 defeat at Parc y Scarlets last month.

Scarlets full-back Liam Williams, meanwhile, has been selected among a six-man shortlist for the LV= Cup Breakthrough Player of the Year award. Voting is now in the hands of the fans, who can register by visiting www.lv.co.uk/rugby

The Scarlets' LV= Cup semi-final at Northampton has been confirmed as Sunday, March 11, with a 1pm kick-off.
