Tumble fly the flag for county with superb cup victory
THE weather again intervened to force the cancellation of yet more fixtures last weekend in the Carmarthenshire Junior Football League.
Only three of the 22 league and cup matches scheduled to be played got the green light.
There were high hopes that more fixtures would be played but the thaw came too late for many of the pitches to be marked and made usable in time.
In the games that went ahead, there was no shortage of goals and entertainment for the spectators.

In the only game to get the go-ahead in round three of the West Wales Youth Cup, Tumble flew the flag for the Carmarthenshire League by recording a superb 4-2 victory against Swansea league opponents Ragged School in their own back yard.
The well-drilled Gwendraeth Valley side enhanced their reputation for playing impressive one-touch football by storming to a 2-0 lead within the opening ten minutes thanks to a delicious double from highly-regarded front man Billy McBryde.
And it was against the run of play that Tumble conceded a goal to leave the half-time score at 2-1 with the tie still up for grabs.
The half-time pep talk did the trick with the visitors stepping up a gear in the second half to safely negotiate their passage into to the next round thanks to a well-taken goal from winger Steffan Price.
Star striker McBryde put the result beyond doubt when completing his hat-trick before the final whistle.
Ragged cut the deficit late on with their second goal.
"Both teams deserve full credit for battling the elements and I am delighted that we are playing football the right way and that it is bringing its rewards," said Tumble chief Mike Mulroy.
"We will continue our focus on skills development as well as winning games."
The only match in the under-13 division was at Llandovery, where visitors Llangennech were pushed all the way to the wire before winning 5-3.
The home side gave as good as they got in a first half which ended 3-3 and contained a fabulous hat-trick from star striker Connor Davies, who was ably supported by the superb distribution provided by pacey winger Jimmy Thompson-Walters.
Llandovery can take great credit for ensuring that the game went ahead and that their team produced a spirited first-half display.
Llangennech were rewarded for their first-half efforts when influential midfielder Jac Grosvener pocketed two well-taken goals before striker Oliver Smith added a third.
But the second half belonged to the visitors as hard-working midfielder Connor Morgan struck a fine goal with the talented Grosvener completing his hat-trick in some style.
Llandovery secretary David Long was glowing in his praise for both teams, adding: "They served up a really good game in difficult conditions."
Elsewhere, visitors Wellfield recorded their first win of the season in the under-16 division with a 4-1 triumph at Hendy.
Wellfield were two up at half-time following goals by Daniel Lloyd and Daniel Lemon. The visitors wrapped up the victory thanks to a double from Daniel Gealy.
