Tributes paid to probation officer, Greg Flowers, who died in three-vehicle smash in the Dulais Valley yesterday
TRIBUTES have been paid to a biker who was killed in a three-vehicle smash in the Dulais Valley yesterday morning.
The 40-year-old, named locally as Greg Flowers, died following the collision on the A4109 between Crynant and Aberdulais.
Mr Flowers, who worked for the Probation Service at Neath Magistrates' Court, was described as popular and respected.
Chairman of the Neath Port Talbot Bench, David C Davies JP, said: "All at Neath Port Talbot Magistrates are absolutely devastated by what’s happened to Greg.
"He was a very popular, respected and well-liked member of the Probation Team at Neath Magistrates’ Court.
"He would always be most accommodating to requests from the magistrates, often going the extra mile at short notice to satisfy the needs of his clients and the court.
"His reports to the magistrates would be honest and frank and his recommendations were always in the best interest of all parties.
"His approach was always professional and his service most appreciated by all court users.
"We are all extremely saddened by his death.
"This is a huge loss to the Probation Service and to the courts in which he worked.
"As a Neath Port Talbot Bench, we offer our deepest sympathy to his immediate family, his relatives, friends and colleagues."
People have also taken to social networking to pay tribute to Mr Flowers.
Police - who are yet to confirm the name - say Mr Flowers was riding a blue Suzuki motorcycle when he was in collision with a blue Renault Clio and a white Skoda taxi, both of which were travelling in the opposite direction.
The 50-year-old woman driver of the Clio was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is now assisting police with enquiries; the occupants of the Skoda were uninjured.
The collision happened around 8.25am yesterday morning, and the road was closed for much of the day while police examined the scene.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone who may have seen the vehicles involved beforehand or who gave assistance at the scene."
