HUNDREDS of people turned out to say goodbye to a Swansea man who overcame physical difficulties to use his feet to become a skilled website designer.

Owen Wood, of Clasemont Road in Morriston, was described as "one of the most inspiring and beautiful people" at the service at Morriston Crematorium yesterday morning.

John Jones, elder at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Uplands, who led the service, said the 30-year-old "crammed more in a short life than others have achieved in a normal life span".

Owen, who designed a website for Burry Port millionaire Kevin Green among others, was paralysed in both arms, had a clubbed foot and curvature of the spine.

But Mr Jones said: "From the day he was born, he defied expectations.

"The original prognosis was poor, but from that gloomy starting point things got better and better."

Mr Wood was fortunate to have a loving family, he added, with his mother Vivienne his main carer.

He also hailed staff at Lon Las Primary School, where teachers were described as very supportive.

Mr Jones said that when Mr Wood was baptised as a Jehovah's Witness it "affected his life greatly. "I think without doubt what shaped him was his relationship with the heavenly Father as a Jehovah's Witness," he said.

Tributes had already been paid before the funeral service.

Mr Green said: "Despite his own obvious limitations, he never complained. Owen was such a talented and humble person."

And actress and former Miss Great Britain Liz Fuller added: "Owen had so much love to give, energy and quick wit.

"Over the past two months he became like a best friend to me.

"I am stunned at how important he became in my life in such a short time.

"When I came home at Christmas, I met up with Owen and I can genuinely say he's one of the most inspiring, beautiful, talented, kind, loveable people I had ever met.

"I know his love and strength and positivity held up his closest and his community."

“For some moments in life there are no words...Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal.

What a beautiful service for a beautiful person!!!!

Owen was a great friend; the kind of friend that stands by you when you need somebody to be there.

When I think of Owen, I think everyone who knows him would agree with me, it was his smile, sense of humour and quick wit that comes to mind.
He was the kind of person that would make everyone laugh and smile. He always cheered me up when he knew I had a bad day.

Owen was well-loved by everyone. We will forever be grateful to have known him. All the memories I have shared with him will forever be cherished. Owen will forever live in our hearts.

We won't ever forget you Owen. you never wanted to see people cry. you wanted to make everyone happy. We are thankful that we were given the chance to have known such an inspirational young man.

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather the love of our lost ones shining down upon us to let us know they are near.

Owen you will forever be missed.

    Loves you
    Kylie xxxxx”
