Tributes to former Glynneath town mayor Hywel Williams

TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a former town mayor of Glynneath.

Members of Glynneath Town Council observed a moment's silence in memory of retired ambulance man Hywel Williams.

Former mayor, Councillor Del Morgan, said: "I was very sad to hear the news about Hywel.

"He served for many years as a councillor, way back when I started.

"We got on like a house on fire, even though we were in different political groups.

"We were quite good friends and I was very sorry to hear the news about Hywel."

Mr Williams, of Clun y Bont in Cwmgwrach, was the father of five children.

A funeral service will take place at Margam Crematorium next Tuesday from noon.

Current Glynneath town mayor Eddie Jones said: "Hywel was a councillor for a very long time and an ambulance man.

"He did a wonderful job."
