IT was fun and games at Brynmill Community Centre as residents paid tribute to one of South Wales Police's top coppers.

Organisers threw a retirement coffee afternoon for Chief Superintendent Mark Mathias who is hanging up his truncheon next month after more than 30 years service with the boys in blue.

After years of distinguished service Mr Mathias was awarded the Queen's Police Medal (QPM) in 2011 for his work with the force, which he joined as a cadet as a 16-year-old in 1980.
