TOWER put up a brave fight in an attempt to overcome the challenge of undefeated Port Talbot Gas in the H Sports Indoor Cricket League.

Mark Cox was again in excellent form, this time reaching 27 not out with Neil Williams (25no) and Ryan Evans (22) in support. Dean Leacher took 1-27, but 26 extras would prove crucial in the end.

Williams took 1-24, while James Bendle (24) and Ceri Durke (22) made a great start for Tower, but even with the addition of 39 extras Tower fell 13 runs short at the close.

Gowerton's loss to Port Talbot earlier in the season is still all that separates the sides. Llangennech were the latest opponents to be put to the sword after reaching 134 all out.

Alun Evans (28) and Lee Davies (22) seemed in control, but quick wickets stemmed the flow and only extras of 61 made the total look respectable.

Will Jenkins (1-33) and Callum Eakins (1-26) were expensive, but the total was always in sight.

Greg Fisher (25no) and Will Hughes (21) dominated the early innings and 68 extras accounted for the rest as Gowerton completed a five-wicket victory.

Hafod reached 148-4 against Penlan RFC with Jay Copp (36no) and Stuart Davies (35no) putting on an opening partnership of 65. Andrew Williams chipped in with 23 as only Darren Jones (1-29) and Mark Garnett (1-24) could make any impact.

The rugby club struggled early on with Steve Morris (2-19) and Paul Sibbery (1-14) proving difficult to get away.

Rob Tipton took excellent figures of 1-11, leaving Penlan 74-4 at the close.

Swansea had a convincing win over Treasurers. Gareth Hayden (27) was the backbone for Swansea, who reached 145-4 thanks to 45 extras. Amman led the charge for Treasurers with 29 not out, but Adam Wright was the star of the show as he took 2-15 to help side to a 44-run victory.

Ynystawe brilliantly defended 92, which didn't look enough against Cimla. Andrew Beasley (27no) and Sion Jones (26no) showed resilience early on as Cimla kept runs at a premium.

The reply saw the Neath side implode with some lacklustre running under pressure. Beasley (1-12) and Jones (1-9) rounded off excellent performances to secure victory by 39 runs.
