WELSH X Factor star Rhydian Roberts is set to take centre stage alongside Jason Donovan in an award-winning show.

Jeff Wayne's musical version of The War of The Worlds — Alive on Stage! will come to the Cardiff International Arena in December.

Former Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon will also star in the multimedia extravaganza.

Rhydian, the 2007 runner-up in ITV's hit show, will play the role of Parson Nathaniel. The line-up also includes Moody Blues' Justin Hayward and Manfred Mann's Chris Thompson.

Rhydian said: "My dream has always been to appear in a musical which tours large arenas and I'm very excited to be joining such an incredible cast."

The show, which has won two Ivor Novello Awards, is touring 12 UK arenas and comes to the CIA on December 14 and 15.
