A large crowd turned out to witness the young New Zealanders lay down the challenge of the Haka.
From the kick-off it was obvious that both teams were well matched and played a similar style of rugby, each putting in some big hits and competing hard at the breakdown, while spreading the ball wide at every opportunity.
Penclawdd were first on the scoreboard with a penalty from Tom Howells before the visitors gathered pace and hit back with a try from out wide that was not converted.
Straight from the restart, Penclawdd's forwards took the ball upfield, going through numerous phases, before Rhys Davies managed to break through the defensive line to get the touchdown. Tom Howells converted to make the interval score 10-5.
In the second half Ohoka increased the tempo of the game, but the Penclawdd defence managed to hold firm.
Eventually, from a set-piece in the Ohoka half, Penclawdd ran a pre-set move to put wing Tom Howells over in the corner. With time running out Ohoka threw everything at Penclawdd and were rewarded with a last-minute try.
The game was played in a great spirit by both teams and was a fantastic advert for junior rugby.
