Tough competition from Team GB and Rory McIlroy
ELLIE Simmonds is one of 12 contenders in with a chance of winning the prestigious 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award tomorrow.
The 18-year-old swimmer will be battling it out against leading figures in the sports world to be crowned the nation's favourite.
They include 30-year-old Olympic boxer Nicola Adams, Britain's greatest sailor Ben Ainslie,35, Olympic heptathlete Jessica Ennis, 26 and double Olympic champion runner Mo Farah, 29.
Olympic rower Katherine Grainger, 37, Britain's most decorated Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, 36, world number one golfer Rory McIlroy, 23, US Open tennis champion and Olympic gold medallist Andy Murray, 25, Paralympic cyclist Sarah Storey, 35, Paralympic wheelchair racer David Weir, 33, along with Britain's first Tour de France winning cyclist and 32-year-old Olympic four times gold medallist Bradley Wiggins.
All the votes cast will be by the public during the show on the night.
