Tosca to take centre stage at church
PUCCINI'S Tosca takes centre stage at Oystermouth's All Saints Church on Saturday at 7pm.
All proceeds will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care with Swansea soprano Helen Pickett at the helm. She will join tenor Geraint Dodd and baritone Phillip Rhodes, on classical pieces as well as show tunes.
"I lost my dad to cancer," she says, "and since then I wanted to do something significant, in Swansea, which would provide enjoyment and entertainment for people in the city and also raise money for a cause dear to my heart. One of the great blessings of being able to sing is I have a talent people want to hear. My dad loved hearing me sing, and to be able to do so in this sort of setting will be wonderful."
Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes has added his support to the night, as has The Prince of Wales, who has written to Helen sending his best wishes for a successful event.
