Torchwood cameras roll in city
DOCTOR Who spin-off Torchwood is understood to be filming in Swansea this morning.
Film crews and cast members with the hit BBC Wales show are thought to be somewhere near the St Helen's recreation ground.

John Barrowman stars as Captain Jack in Torchwood
Trailers were spotted there this morning but no members of the cast have been seen so far.
Torchwood features John Barrowman, as Captain Jack, and Eve Myles, as Gwen Cooper, who are both members of a secret organisation tasked with investigating alien activity on Earth.
Their fictional base is beneath the water feature artwork by the Wales Millennium Centre, but filming has taken place all over Wales.
Parent series Doctor Who has regularly been filmed in Swansea, with locations including Rhossili Bay, the old central library and the marina area all featuring.
Aussie singer Kylie Minogue visited the city in July 2007 to film a Titanic-themed Christmas special, in the Exchange Buildings next door to the South Wales Evening Post building in Adelaide Street.

“Well, I live in Swansea and besides the unattractive and somewhat utilitarian nature of the city centre, I think it is great place. I love walking along the prom, having a coffee in the marina and selecting fresh food from the market. People seem to pick on a few run down areas of the city and then paint the whole place black. It is not so. Swansea, like any city, is comprised of many districts, and in Swansea's situation, many of these districts are charming and full of character. Criticism is an essential part of development, but it should be pointed and constructive, not whinging.”

“I spend a lot of time in Swansea, Mrs Happy Days, luckily avoiding whingers like you. I remember well the old Castle Gardens. Much worse. Still bringing up that old chestnut. I had a fine recent visit to your nice museum with free parking at a multi storey opposite, or can't you put the effort in to cross a road (wasn't being dug up at the time either, so they must have been off that day). I'd be so proud of the progressive tower which looks fantastic when you enter the city. Can't imagine you frequent Wind street much, as I believe thats where people go to enjoy themselves.”

“Come and live here Roy. You live in Bridgend, until you have experienced the full joy of having Oystermouth Road dug up over 30 times in 5 years. Or see the beautiful Castle Gardens paved over with Cotswold colour stone whilst £28,000 is spent on a plastic leaf to oversee the skate boarders. Visit the National Maritime Museum where you can't park.Yes we know Swansea has a beautiful location, but the council think it's a good idea to build the highest tower block in Wales so that no one can see the sea. Spend time in our "cafe culture" Wind Street on a Friday night then comment.”

“I hear Captain Jack is investigating an alien virus that causes an incredibly high concentration of whinging moaners in one lovely seaside City. What is wrong with you lot in Swansea? Every comment I browse at, is an irrelevent reference to a bendy bus, council jibe, or a rundown city. You lot are put me off visting Swansea with your terrible negativity, not the place itself, which you exagerate into some hell hole. Well done again the shiny happy people of Swansea.”

“As a city, albeit a filthy, run down, badly run one, we have much to thank Russell T Davies for. Dr Who and the spin off Torchwood has put us on the map. It's a shame that we have such poor council led planning.”

“Well the film makers would have been in luck if they want a long stretch of a concrete jungle they would have had a perfect setting with the so called Kingsway, they could even had Chris Holley smiling and waving in the middle of what was the Kingsway circle which is now like something from a rail junction without rails and if they had waited for a couple more months they could have covered a bendy bus and used it as a giant caterpillar or something”
