Tobias out to show who's the daddy
PROUD father Tobias Webb admits he has huge motivation to become a boxing sensation following the birth of his first child.
The 21-year-old super-middleweight's partner Gemma Lewis gave birth to Siena on Sunday — less than a week before Webb's fourth career fight.
Swansea talent Webb faces Yorkshireman Lee Duncan in a four-round bout at the Echo Arena in Liverpool tonight, and he is looking to begin life as a father on a winning note.
"It was a hugely proud moment for me," said Webb. "I didn't sleep for two days straight as I was training, then seeing Gemma in the hospital, then training and back to the hospital.
"But it's all been worth it. I've now got a beautiful baby girl in my life and I couldn't be happier.
"Now I have to get in the ring and fight. I just can't lose now because I will be dedicating this win to my little girl.
"Her birth has given me an even bigger desire and motivation to be successful."
Webb's preparations for the bout with Duncan was supposed to include sparring with Paul Smith, who headlines the show by defending his British super-middleweight title against former champion Tony Dodson.
But the birth of his daughter put an end to those hopes. Instead, Webb was put through his paces with coach Karl Ince in Bolton before heading back to Swansea to continue his training with his uncle — cruiserweight Enzo Maccarinelli.
Webb, though, insists he's in great shape as he looks to claim a fourth straight victory.
"Pulling out of sparring with Smith was a blow, but considering the circumstances it had to happen because family comes first," said Webb.
"But my training has been very intense with Karl. I've done over 100 rounds of sparring and Enzo has also been working with me.
"So I couldn't have asked for more than that. It's all down to me now, and I simply have to do the business tonight."
