Threat to beach beauty
IT is most pleasing that Swansea Council at last seems to be appreciating the importance of conserving our heritage.
For too long areas and buildings have been erased which have played an important part in our history have been destroyed in the name of progress.
However, it is extremely surprising that one of the most beautiful areas of Gower, in fact the first area of outstanding natural beauty, is under threat of being destroyed. Rhossili Bay has been voted third best area in Europe and tenth in the world but is being threatened by the intrusion of a giant wind farm. It is sacrilegious that these ugly, inefficient monstrosities will destroy not only the scenic beauty of the area but also the increasing protected species of fish, birds and marine mammals, including the porpoises which have a significant breeding population.
