A NEWTON teenager's focus on Mumbles Lifeboat station has seen her scoop a prestigious photography award.

Hannah Davies, 15, was presented with the National Historic Ships UK 2012 Photography award in the Young Photography section the Princess Royal.

The annual gathering of National Historic Ships UK is one of the high watermarks of our maritime heritage and Hannah's award was the culmination of scheme to encourage school pupils to get behind the camera.

Hannah, from Bishopston Comprehensive, received a digital camera for her school as a prize, as well as a visit to HMS Belfast for her and her class.
