Tearful teen breaks down in rape trial questioning
A 15-YEAR-OLD girl who was allegedly raped by Llanelli man Dean Cleobury has denied a barrister's suggestion that sexual intercourse never occurred.
The teenager broke down yesterday as she was questioned about what she said 22-year-old Cleobury did to her one morning last summer in Pembrey Country Park.
The girl said that as they walked through the park the defendant began kissing her and she kissed him back.
But she claimed Cleobury then pulled down her trousers, ordered her to lie on the ground and had sex with her without her consent.
The Llanelli teenager said she was "protesting, trying to stop him" but she did not struggle or scream.
Questioned by Cleobury's barrister, Frank Phillips, the girl became tearful as she rejected a suggestion that the only thing that happened between them was kissing.
In cross-examination Mr Phillips said to her: "He never had sex with you."
"He did," she replied. "I did not agree to what he was doing and I was protesting, trying to stop him, but I did not struggle or scream when he was doing it."
The 15-year-old was giving evidence over video- link at Swansea Crown Court, where Cleobury, of Rhandir, Bynea, denies rape charges involving three teenage girls.
At the time of the alleged sex attack in Pembrey Country Park last August, he was on bail having been charged with raping two 16-year-olds — one five years ago, the other at a party at a house in Loughor in the autumn of 2008.
Evidence in the case against Cleobury, formerly of Culfor Road, Loughor, is due to continue on Monday.
